Recueil ALBERTO GRAU - mixed voices

Composer and choral conductor Alberto GRAU (born in 1937) is recognized as one of Venezuela’s most influential contemporary musicians. Known for his career as a choral conductor, GRAU has become a leading composer of choral music in Latin America. A number of his works have been printed by major publishing houses in the United States, England, Venezuela and France.
Alberto GRAU has studied under the direction of the most prominent Venezuelan musicians and has received numerous awards for his choral works. He is the founder of the the Orfeón Universitario Simón Bolívar and the Schola Cantorum de Venezuela, which received First Prize in the « Guido D’Arezzo » competition in Italy in 1974. He has been a professor of choral music for over 30 years, at the University Institute of Musical Studies and the Simón Bolívar University in Caracas. He was vice-president of the International Choral Music Federation from 1982 to 1996.
Alberto GRAU is currently active in pedagogical projects which are changing the lives of thousands of youth in Latin America : Construir Cantando (Building Through Singing), Music for Social Action and the Andean Youth Choral Project.

CHŒURS D’OPÉRETTES FRANÇAISES – vol. 1

Ce premier volume de Chœurs d’opérettes françaises comprend des extraits d’œuvres connues (Véronique, Les Saltimbanques, Les cloches de Corneville ou La Mascotte) et d’autres très peu jouées ou injustement oubliées (Le puits qui parle, François les bas bleus ou Les travaux d’Hercule).
Les 15 pièces rassemblées sont courtes, aux thèmes ludiques, humoristiques ou plus légers ; l’amour et la table étant des thèmes récurrents dans la musique de cette époque.
Les chœurs (à 4 voix mixtes ou voix égales d’hommes ou de femmes) ont été choisis pour leur qualité musicale, mais aussi pour pouvoir être abordés par des chœurs de tous niveaux.
Ce florilège permettra aux chefs de chœurs de constituer des programmes originaux et éventuellement d’aller plus loin dans la découverte de ces pages immortelles de la musique vocale de la deuxième moitié du 19ème et du premier tiers du 20ème siècle, véritable âge d’or de l’opérette.

Mina SMALL, Singer, curious and creative musician, wrote the texts and composed the musics of these twelve songs inspired by the jazz, the extra-European musics and the ethnic musics.
The parts of this collection do not have to remain motionless. Every user, whether he is a singer, a teacher or choirmaster can adapt them to the vocal or instrumental formation he has in front of him.
